Trump Welcomes Families of Injured Military Personnel to the White House

President Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.

He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Vigils across the state have been held in their memory.

White House Offer

The president said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president told reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid public safety in Washington DC.

Honoring the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the leader of her former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to help others.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Measures and Government Adjustments

Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The event caused the Trump administration to pause refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Morrisey mentioned on television.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told the program that she also intended to speak to his relatives.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,” Morrisey informed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
