The Merseyside club Will Not Change Attacking Style Despite Recent Slump, Says Arne Slot

The Dutch manager has stated that the club's hierarchy are aligned with his perspective regarding the recent downturn and he has no intention of discarding their forward-thinking philosophy in search of a solution. The tactician acknowledged that six defeats in seven outings was below standard ahead of the weekend fixture with Villa.

Growing Expectations During Difficult Period

Liverpool's coach recognized the expectations were high before his makeshift team were eliminated from the Carabao Cup against their Premier League rivals. However, he insisted that this urgency to stop the losing streak is not coming from the Anfield hierarchy or executive leadership following a significant spending of approximately £450 million.

"We share common perspectives," remarked Slot, whose squad will encounter Los Blancos in the European competition and play against the Citizens in the domestic competition.

Player Depth Stays Unchallenged

Liverpool's manager thinks his team "boast a remarkable roster if they are all fit and all ready for the fixture list". He said that the recent signings in players such as Florian Wirtz and the forward, who is probably unavailable again against Villa through injury, had left the club "in such a good place for the immediate prospects and the long-term future".

Integration Challenges

When questioned about why his team were struggling to integrate, he answered: "That question isn't constructive. 'What are the reasons?' I provide reasons and people say I'm making justifications. I can identify five or six reasons why we are struggling for victories or experiencing losses as we do but, as I always emphasize, there are never enough excuses to have a performance streak as we had now."

  • Even if I could list numerous reasons
  • As Liverpool manager you should not suffer defeats
  • In truth six losses from seven matches

Defensive Statistics

Only the Clarets (21) have conceded more clear opportunities from normal situations this season than Slot's team (19). The first-place team, Arsenal, have conceded only two. Yet Liverpool's coach rejects the champions have been too open and maintains there is no reason to compromise forward-thinking approach for a cautious system after ten fixtures without a shutout.

"In my view we're not allowing many opportunities so I see no justification to alter our approach entirely but we need to do better in not conceding goals," he declared.

Particular Cases

"When facing United, how many opportunities did we allow? When playing Frankfurt when we were leading 3-1, we scarcely gave up a shot on target. In every match we played until now we haven't allowed a lot of chances. Definitely not. We do give away a somewhat more than the prior term but that is related to us being trailing by a goal so you take a bit more risk. But typically I don't believe that our issue is that we allow too many opportunities. Our issue is we don't score the openings we produce."
