Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for questions to be raised about his future following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the club's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known weaknesses from his team in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a spell such as this with performances so bad.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
