An Australian man who vaulted over a barricade and touched actress Ariana Grande has been expelled and prohibited from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, twenty-six, was handed a penalty to nine days in detention for causing a public disturbance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority stated to Singaporean press.

The man shoved past photographers and charged at the actress and singer, who was participating in the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on November 13. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

He has a background of causing disturbances at events and high-profile gatherings, including leaping onto the platform at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in June this year.

The event caused anger in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.

The pop star has mentioned suffering from PTSD after a explosive incident at her performance in the UK city in May 2017 took the lives of over twenty people and hurt numerous attendees.

Throughout the court proceedings, the court heard he had attempted to intrude on the red carpet event on two occasions, according to local news sources.

He then made a follow-up try to jump the barricades. Security staff prevented him and pinned him down.

Wen later posted videos appreciating the celebrity for letting him on the carpet and said he was "free."

Police arrested him the next day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which the man admitted guilt.

The District Judge the judicial official was quoted by Channel News Asia as remarking that he was looking for publicity, commenting that he was mistaken to believe he would not experience repercussions.

Grande has not addressed the situation.

Erivo spoke about the incident to NBC, saying that she "just wanted to ensure my co-star was safe."

"I believe he didn't intend us danger, but you can't predict with those things, and I wanted to make sure that she was alright. That was my immediate response," she said.
