Patrick Bamford Joins the Blades Despite Initiating Derogatory Chants About Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford is now a member of the Championship side just seven months following starting disrespectful taunts targeting the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, without a club after departing from Leeds, has agreed to a agreement with the second-tier strugglers through the winter. Bamford's lengthy spell at Elland Road was ended amicably in August.

Among Bamford’s final notable acts as a Leeds player involved leading insulting chants regarding Wilder during the club’s promotion party in April. Currently, the one-cap England player is set to play for Wilder as the Blades’ manager aims to rescue his beloved club away from the drop zone.

Previous History Involving the Striker and Wilder

The pair had previous conflict prior to Leeds moved up to the top flight last season and United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. Wilder called Bamford as “a muppet” back when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades secured direct promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation & Looking Ahead

All appears to have been resolved with Sheffield United, the Championship’s least productive attack, in desperate need of a boost up front while Bamford aiming to resurrect his playing days.

The song about Wilder gained traction in April. An apologetic Bamford and the Leeds manager, Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder stated at the time: “Spoke with Patrick yesterday and I’ve no problem whatsoever with it. I’m not sure regarding the language from a fellow professional! But I valued and respected him giving me a call.

“We spent 20 minutes and the same again I talked with Daniel Farke as well and we had a longer discussion with him and he is a super guy, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would give it and accept it and that’s part and parcel of football at every level, including a Sunday morning. I've got no problem at all. I'm fine with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”

Recent Career Struggles

Bamford made 18 appearances for Leeds last season but the ex- Forest, Chelsea FC & Boro striker has struggled with injury in recent years.
