🔗 Share this article Battlefield 6's Relaxed Game Mode Sparks Heated Discussions Regarding AI Players, XP Rewards, and Queue Times Over the weekend, the game developers introduced a fresh playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode mirrors the standard Breakthrough format but includes several notable changes: Every squad has only 8 human participants, with the rest made up of 32 bots. Activities performed by real players grant complete experience points, while bot actions offer lower rewards. Only two locations are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State. Features like Player tags, accolades, and career stat updates have been turned off. In short, the playlist lives up to its title: it's a casual take of Breakthrough. At face value, one could assume there's nothing wrong, as it gives additional choices for gamers seeking alternative ways to have fun with the game. However, if video games has shown one thing, it's that not everyone will be happy. In other words, a lot of BF6 players are mad. Community Responses: Anger to Support "Gamers prefer real players. Don't repeat the errors of your rivals," reads a response to the mode reveal. "Absolutely shocking idea," says a different user. At the same time, in community forums, a player remarks, "It's unclear where we are headed with this title," while someone else details everything they consider to be broken in the game: "Resolve glitches, fix drone glitch, correct rocket mechanics, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist." However, amid the criticism, some gamers sharing how much they're enjoying the new mode. "It's very fun to practice, human participants keep it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," says a forum post. "This subreddit fails to see that there are gamers who have lives and can't play this title all the time. Let them strike a balance," adds a different comment. One reply on Twitter clarifies that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is perfect for me," and another praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition." Constructive Concerns and Player Feedback All that said, players have constructive reasons to complain about Casual Breakthrough. A few folks have highlighted that it could increase queue times more extended for other modes because of the sheer number of options in the game already. Similarly, some areas already encounter mostly bots in the current modes. It also seems somewhat counterintuitive that the mode does not begin without a minimum number of human gamers, even though it focuses mostly on combat against bots. Finally, a major grievances is that a previous feature was promised to provide complete rewards, including AI matches, but that got canned when they attempted to eliminate XP farming from the system. Thus Casual Breakthrough seems like the community meeting them in the middle, as per forum feedback. A different user describes this addition as the developers "dropping the ball significantly, I had great enjoyment in the initial release, why did they feel the need to adjust it?" Looking Ahead: Will Changes Occur? If the development team has proven anything to date with Battlefield 6, it's that they're listening and acting on feedback. Assignments being too difficult got fixed rapidly, just like the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, if their data indicates this new playlist is underperforming to their expectations, they will not hesitate to change it again.
